Oh, hey, I am blogging! :) (I miss blogging, I miss sewing every day...) Summer is still in full swing around here. Usually we have summery days until at least mid October. And sometimes those are the perfect summer days, with the best beach days. So, I am still sewing things for our summer wardrobe. This is my latest make. It's the Hally Casual Dress, one of the patterns available through One Thimble #16, a digital sewing magazine that was out a couple of days ago. I am joining today the official OT16 blog tour, follow along with us to get to know several new PDF patterns and be inspired!
If you follow this blog you already know all about One Thimble and how much I love it. If not, well, here it goes: One Thimble is a sewing digital magazine, full of PDF patterns, articles, tips & tutorials. (You can see my previous posts and reviews of previews issues here: five (the Moku Shorts/Culottes), six (the Multi-Apron), seven (the Jukebox Dress), eight (the Jackalope Tee and the Fedora Hat), nine (the Carnival Jacket),

Pattern:
The Hally Casual Dress, a pattern by Ainslee Fox Boutique Patterns.
Fabric:
A floral cotton print from Miss Matatabi. (Do you spy the little pink bunnies and fawns? So cute!)
Details:
This pattern is available in sizes 1-12. Although the chart put my model on size 5 for width I made a size 7 (width) combined with size 9 for length. I am all about making one or two sizes up these days so the clothes last longer (at least for this and next year's summer). So, you can see in some photos that is does look a bit large on the sides and neckline, but it's just because of my decision, not because of the pattern itself. I trust Ainslee Fox patterns, I've used them before and they're great! I totally recommend them. (No compensation for saying this, I might add. :) )
This pattern has a couple of great features: it has no closures (because of the elastic at the back it goes on and off through the head easily), it has side panels and front and back gathered skirt pieces, the bias trim straps make a cute triangle cut-out detail at the front bodice (love it!).
This pattern is rated as an Intermediate level. Regarding construction and techniques used, it offers two different methods of making the bias trim straps. One is mind blowing and sort of difficult (but totally amazing!) and the other (the one I'm using here) is easier but still trickier at some steps. I had a couple of head scratching moments but I got over it. The end result is so satisfying that I am glad I picked this pattern. Love it!!
