I finally made something for kid #1! This boy is one of the most sweetest, patient, caring persons I know. A couple of years ago he used to ask who is it for every time I was assembling a pattern or cutting fabric. Then he just stopped asking. So sad, right? I have said it before: worst mom in the world here. When I saw the testing call from Misusu Patterns for this a.m.a.z.i.n.g sweater *I knew* I had to make it for him!
When I asked for his help to pick knits for this and he was thrilled! He wanted the Mickey print as main (blessed 10 year old who still thinks this is a cool print for a 10 year old, haha) but I managed to convince him to use it just for the pocket.
I have sewn this sweater last November but I had to keep it a secret because this pattern was only released today, as part of the new issue of One Thimble! Yes, issue 18 of One Thimble is out and you don't want to miss it!!
Pattern:
Origami Raglan Sweater & Dress, pattern by Misusu for One Thimble issue 18. (For now you can only buy it in the One Thimble shop, as a stand alone pattern or as part of the whole digital magazine (along with several other great patterns, articles, tutorials and tips). In a couple of months you will be able to buy it from Misusu as well.)
Fabric:
Recommended fabrics are: medium weight sweater knits, interlock, French terry with 25% stretch. I used French terry and sweater fleece.
Sewing & pattern details:
This raglan pattern can be made as a sweater or as a dress, suitable for both boys and girls. It is designed for a relaxed straight fit, has super cool diagonal side seams (perfect for...pipping!) and presents a unique jaw-dropping V-neck collar design!
This pattern is available in sizes 9-12 months to 13-14 years and offers the following options:
- optional kangaroo pocket
- short or long sleeves
The origami part of the v-neck is not as hard to make as it seems, you just need to be very precise at sewing corners and take your time. (And that is the reason why this pattern is rated as Intermediate).
Looking at these photos I can't believe how much grown up he looks. My sweet little baby... <3
I have made another pattern from One Thimble #18 as part of the official blog tour but... you will have to wait for the reveal! It will be here next Wednesday!
Happy sewing!
