The Glacier vest and the Raindrop tee

Hi! Today I am joining the New Look blog tour to celebrate the new look of Gracious Threads pattern shop and website!

I have several (if not almost all) of Gracious Threads patterns. I have already blogged about the Seashore top & dress pattern (here) and there are a couple others that didn't make it to the blog. Just in case you ever wondered, I don't make things just for blog tours and series. :) I make a lot of things without a schedule or a deadline. But because they don't have a deadline to post on the blog I end up being too lazy to go through the long hours of all the process of a sewing blog post: taking photos, editing photos and writing the post. :)

Sometimes I try to keep the clothes I make safe (as in, away from my kids and their messy lives and adventures) until I can take some photos, but most of the times they just beg me to use them with those puppy eyes and a mellow voice and, well, you know how it is... No mom's heart can say no to that... :)

Patterns
The Glacier vest and the Raindrop tee, both patterns by Gracious Threads.

The Glacier vest is a fast sew! Love this pattern.
It comes in sizes and you can make it out of faux fur for a statement piece or use minky fleece as a warm layer. I have opted to use some mohair wool I got last Monday at my local fabric store (Feira dos Tecidos). It is soft and warm, and I love that shade of blue!
For the lining I used a soft rayon cotton with a print that has the same shade of blue of the vest and the orange of the tee. I love when fabrics from my stash match perfectly like this!
It is fully lined and features a tie ribbon closure or a toggle button. I have opted to add a tab with a button hole (just sew it between main and lining) and a single wooden button that, again, matches the blue and the orange.

The Raindrop tee is an easy sew. Jess uses sewing techniques that makes it easy for beginners to sew with knits.
This pattern comes in sizes 2T to 8. It is a slim fit tee with a high-low hem (rounded at the front) and a fun pocket (that you can make in knit or woven, I used the same cotton print as for the vest lining). It comes with two sleeve lengths: short and in-between 3/4 and long.

I was planning to make five pieces from five different patterns from Gracious Threads so I could make a mini collection but this week I got a nasty stomach virus - the mother of all gastrointestinal virus - and ended up spending this week in bed... or in the bathroom... So for obvious reasons I couldn't make everything as planned... nor did I make it to the scheduled post date (which was yesterday)... (Again, I am so sorry Jess!)

My initial plan was to make: the Glacier vest, the Raindrop tee, the Lazy Days Lounge pants, the Cirrus skirt and the Henday Zip-up hoodie. My fabric color palette was going to be orange, yellow and this blue shade that I love.

All the pieces would be able to mix and match in order to create a mini collection from Gracious Threads patterns (like I did here before with patterns from another designer).

Well, all I was able to do in the end were two pieces but I kept the initial color palette and hopefully I will be able to do the remaining three pieces some time soon.

Jessica is running a discount code along with this tour. It's 40% off all patterns! Don't miss the chance!
Please make sure to check out the other stops on this tour too!

Happy sewing!
