The Tinley tee and the Love Me Knot shorts - a perfect playground outfit

Today I am part of the Tinley tee and Love Me Knot shorts pattern tour. Both patterns from GYCT

I have tested the Firecracker dress & tunic also from GYCT a few months ago (still to be blogged... shame on me!), so when I had the chance to be a part of this tour I immediately said yes - I knew these patterns wouldn't disappoint (and they didn't)!

Both patterns are an easy sew! The instructions are really great and I have to say that these patterns are great for beginners.

The Tinley Tee

I have used a light-weight cotton piqué knit in a color block combo (white and red), that I had previously used on a polo shirt for my little man.
If you know me already you know that I love the little details. So I had to add something to this simple basic tee to make it stand out a bit. :) I have add two navy blue square buttons to the center upper front to match the shorts cotton woven color and pattern. ;) I also have opted for a small zig zag stitch as a contrasting top stitch for the sleeves and band and I think I really like the outcome.

This pattern offers four sleeve options: short sleeve, long sleeve, gathered cap sleeve and flutter sleeve - I have opted for the later. And has two hemming options: banded hem or regular hem. Size ranges from 12 months to 12 years old.

I really love this pattern - it is definitely my go-to pattern for a basic slim fit tee from now on.

The Love Me Knot Shorts

For the Love Me Knot shorts I used a checkers cotton woven in navy blue (this pattern is intended for woven fabrics but it can also be made out of knits) that my lovely cousin Raquel gave me along with a bunch of (big) fabric scraps she rescued from thrift shops in the UK. Although she knows her ways with a sewing machine she is more into crochet lately - you can check her Facebook page and Etsy shop here.

These shorts are so cute! Don't you love those keyholes and lovely bow ties? What about those cute pockets?

I was positively surprised for finding darts in this pattern! It is not a common thing to find darts on a kids clothes pattern but they sure help to make a perfect fit sometimes.
Another great thing about this pattern - you only have to print 7 pages!

You can find the Tinley tee here and the Love Me Knot shorts here. You can also find a bundle for both patterns here! And you can save 15% using code "SAVE15".

  8. When I was little, my favorite books were the Gingham Girl books. To this day navy gingham makes me happy. These are adorable.

  9. Oh my goodness...those gingham shorts!!!! I would put her in those twice a week, they are so sweet. And I love that pique for the shirt, I haven't sewn with that yet. Your checks are also beautifully matched... Who needs to buy clothes when you can make stuff like this??
