The Sweet Simple Dress

I have to be honest. I love to sew patterns that make me learn a new sewing technique/ method, but I also love those simple quick projects that provide some instant gratification. And this is one of them. The Sweet Simple dress is a new pattern from Allison of Freshly Completed - actually it is her first kids clothes pattern! 

I have met Allison while we were both testing the School Boy vest pattern. She shared her Gentleman's Bow Tie pattern and I immediately fell in love... (And of course I got the pattern and made one to match the vest!) So I was really happy when I got the chance to test the Sweet Simple Dress for her.

This is a really simple pattern (suitable for beginners) yet adorable.
It has lots of potential for customization (pockets/ no pockets, ruffled hem, sash, flower apliqué, etc.) - don't you love that?
This dress just slips over the head (no buttons or zippers). Oh, and I have to say that I love the pleated puffed sleeves!

I have used a bright yellow lightweight knit for the dress and a floral cotton lawn (in yellow, grey and black) for the sleeves and ruffles. I have also shortened the length to make it a tunic but I think it got halfway between a tunic and a dress actually...

Tenho que ser honesta. Gosto de costurar moldes que me permitem aprender novas técnicas/ métodos de costura mas também gosto muito de projectos simples e rápidos. E este é um deles. O vestido Sweet Simple é um novo molde da Allison do Freshly Completed - aliás, é o seu primeiro molde de roupa de criança!

Eu conheci a Allison quando ambas tivemos a oportunidade de testar o molde do colete School Boy. Ela partilhou no grupo de testes o seu molde do laço Gentleman e eu apaixonei-me logo por ele... (E claro, comprei o molde e fiz logo um para fazer conjunto com o colete). Por isso fiquei muito contente quando tive a oportunidade de testar este seu vestido.

Este é um molde muito simples (óptimo para principiantes na costura) mas adorável...
Tem muito potencial para customização (com ou sem bolsos, baínha com ou sem folhos, fita, aplicação de flor, etc.) - não acham isso fantástico?

Este vestido é de enfiar pela cabeça (não tem botões nem fechos!). Ah, e tenho de dizer que gosto tanto das mangas em balão com aquela preguinha na beira!

Usei um tecido de malha fina na cor amarelo forte para o vestido em si, e um tecido de algodão às flores amarelas, cinzento e preto para as mangas e folhos. Encurtei também a altura do vestido para fazer uma túnica, mas acho que o tamanho acabou por ficar a meio entre túnica e vestido...

E se têm crianças pequenas (aí com menos de 3 anos) sabem o quão difícil é mantê-las sossegadas para tirar fotografias... :)
