The Cocoon Dress

Hi! Are you sewing along for Project Run & Play season 11

I was thrilled when season 11 was announced! PR&P was really important for me when I started to blog. It helped me to find lots of amazing blogs, to get to know super talented bloggers, and also to make my little blog at the time known. I was kind of sad that last year it was run on a different format, I must admit... But now it has come back with all the same fun and excitement as before! Four weeks, one theme each week, a few contestants, a linky party for everyone who wants to join the fun, and lots of amazing outfits!
This week's theme is "Nothing but Knits!" and my entry is the Cocoon dress, the first pattern by the über talented Trine of the GroovyBaby...and Mama blog. She is one of the most stylish sewing bloggers in the whole blogosphere. Trine sews for her and her kids (girl, teen girl and boy) and everything she makes is absolutely stunning!...

This dress as a lovely cocoon shape and can be made with medium to heavy weight knits. I have opted to use this fun French terry that was laying on my stash. Got to love those flamingos, pink toucans, bananas and kiwis! Last Summer I predicted that bananas were going to be the new pineapples and I think I was right! :)

This pattern is only available in this short sleeve version. I thought about making the sleeves longer (which would be an easy hack) but I am on a Spring/Summer sewing mood already. This fabric print is all about Summer, right? And it is so soft and thin, perfect for the warmer weather. Short sleeves it was. :)

I am loving all the contestants and all the link party entries so far! So many amazing outfits!!

I can't wait to see what everyone will be making next week! I have a crazy idea on my head for this week's theme, I hope to find the time to turn it into reality. And hopefully it will work, haha. :)

Happy sewing!

  2. I like your fabric choice here. I do hope the ruffles at the shoulders don't start rolling up.They look like they might give you a hard time there.
