M is for Moto Joggers

Hi! Today I am on the M is for Moto Joggers Tour, or should I say, M is for More Dressed-up Joggers. :) I really don't wear sportswear nor joggers. I am not of a sporty type - I should, I know, look at me and all that fluffiness crying out loud for some calorie burning activities. :) So what I am doing on this tour? Well, first of all I really love trying new patterns from new-to-me designers and I also love to modify patterns just a bit to make them my style or something that I really need on my wardrobe. I always see that as a challenge and I can't say no to a good challenge.

When Elizabeth kindly sent me an invitation for this tour I realized that this pattern could also be made in woven (instead of knit) and in several styles - you have to check all the options! -, so there was hope for my non-sporty self and I accepted the challenge.

Pattern
M is for Moto Joggers, from hatchlings patterns.

Fabric
Floral jacquard sateen with some stretch, from my local fabric store (Feira dos Tecidos). I used two remnants I purchased about 4 years ago for 1.95€/each (about US$2.25). Gotta love my fabric store!

Details

This pattern is a ladies jogging or lounge pant pattern with an optional moto detailing, side pockets (in-seam), an elastic waist band and leg cuffs. You can dress up or dress down depending on what fabric and style you choose.

They were designed as a slouchy style, with extra room around the hips, a very slightly dropped crotch and skinny/tapered legs.

It comes with several options which makes it super versatile - and I always love that on a pattern. It offers a shorts length, capri length and full length. You can make this as some sporty joggers, beach shorts, PJ pants or shorts, slouchy cool lounge pants or even a more fitted dressed up pants, like these ones I made.

It is a super quick & easy sew. Perfect for beginners! No complex waistbands, no zippers, no elaborate techniques.

I had to make some modifications to better fit my body figure or the style I was looking for, as follow:

  • The front and back rise were too high for my body figure/ height (the front was over my belly button) so I had to take about 4 inches off.
  • The leg cuffs were cut in about half (lenghtwise) because I think they look better this way on this fancier style.
  • The legs were tapered just a bit more.

Next time I will have to work on a better fit at the front because I think there are some whiskers there. Maybe the fabric is too stretchy or it was pulling out because I had my hand on the pocket... Humm... I need to check a few things about pant fitting for sure.

Here is the line up for this tour. Make sure to have a look on all these blogs to see all the options you can get from this pattern!

Stylling: top from Mango, sparkly ballerina flats from Lefties and infinity scarf from my sweet & talented friend Marta from Mimi Burnay

Happy sewing!

  6. Very useful information on workout pants. Couple of weeks ago, I bought stylish workout clothes for my workouts from a reputed online store. Came to know about this store from my brother and got clothes at reasonable price.
